Anita Louise Bissett

July 3, 1944 — October 18, 2014

ANITA LOUISE KIRBY BISSETT, 70, OF BROWNFIELD, TEXAS PASSED FROM THIS LIFE ON OCTOBER 18, 2014 SURROUNDED BY HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.  MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 25, 10AM AT BROWNFIELD CHURCH OF CHRIST, WHERE SHE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER FOR MANY YEARS. BO SHERO AND BOB REYNOLDS WILL OFFICIATE WITH TODD BISSETT LEADING SINGING.
ANITA WAS BORN IN SAN ANGELO TEXAS ON JULY 3, 1944 TO HAROLD WRIGHT KIRBY AND LOUISE VERONICA ENGLING KIRBY.  SHE WAS RAISED IN MONAHANS TEXAS WHERE SHE GRADUATED FROM MONAHANS HIGH SCHOOL.  AFTER GRADUATION SHE ATTENDED LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AND ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE WHERE SHE EARNED A BACHELORS DEGREE IN SPEECH THERAPY.
SHE MARRIED THE LOVE OF HER LIFE, GEOFFREY CHASE BISSETT, ON JUNE 24, 1972 IN MONAHANS TEXAS.  TOGETHER THEY HAD THREE CHILDREN; CLAYTON CHASE BISSETT, JERRY TODD BISSETT AND KAELA RENE’ BISSETT BROWN.
SHE LOVED CRAFTS OF ALL KINDS, ESPECIALLY KNITTING WHICH SHE LEARNED AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 7.  SHE WAS AN AVID SPORTS FAN, ESPECIALLY FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL.  SHE LOVED THE CHICAGO CUBS AND WAS ELATED WHEN THE “W’ FLAG WAS FLYING! SHE USED HER KNITTING SKILLS TO BLESS OTHERS BY KNITTING BABY HATS FOR NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNITS AND SCARVES FOR SPECIAL OLYMPIANS.  ANITA ALSO MADE HATS FOR THE “LOOK GOOD FEEL GOOD” ROOM AT JOE ARRINGTON CANCER CENTER IN LUBBOCK AND APHGANS FOR THOMAS E. CREEK VA HOSPITAL HOSPICE PROGRAM IN AMARILLO.
ANITA WAS FLUENT IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE.  SHE BEGAN LEARNING SIGN LANGUAGE TO LEAD DEAF PEOPLE TO CHRIST.  SHE WAS ACTIVE IN TEACHING OTHERS SIGN LANGUAGE IN BROWNFIELD AS WELL AS LUBBOCK.  SHE REGULARLY ATTENDED DEAF WORSHIP AT SUNSET CHURCH OF CHRIST IN LUBBOCK.  SHE TAUGHT MANY CHILDREN SIGN LANGUAGE FOR THE LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR CHRIST PROGRAM.
FAMILY WAS EVERYTHING TO ANITA.  SHE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HER GRANDDAUGHTER, ISABEL RENE’ BROWN, HER BROTHER, JERRY WAYNE KIRBY AND BOTH PARENTS.  SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND OF 42 YEARS, GEOFF BISSETT, CLAYTON AND WIFE, DIANNA OF ROCHESTER HILLS MICHIGAN; TODD AND WIFE RACHEL OF PLAINVIEW; AND KAELA AND HUSBAND BRODY BROWN OF AMARILLO. HER 7 GRANDCHILDREN WERE THE LIGHT OF HER LIFE:  KARLEE KAY BISSETT, BROOKE AMBER BISSETT, DAWSON RAY BISSETT, BENJAMIN CHASE BISSETT, SAWYER RENE’ BROWN, ADYSON LEIGH BISSETT, AND MICHAEL FRANCIS BISSETT.  SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY TWO SISTERS, D’LYLA KIRBY OF ABILENE AND TEENA HALL OF AMARILLO.  SISTER-IN-LAW, CAROLYN KIRBY OF SAN ANGELO, TEXAS, MANY NIECES, AS WELL AS GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS WERE VERY IMORTANT IN HER LIFE. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY BROTHER-IN-LAW, SCOTT BISSETT AND WIFE LYNN OF DENTON, TEXAS.
