December 19, 1967 — April 13, 2024

Amarillo

Antonio "Tony" Yniguez, age 56, of Amarillo, died peacefully at his home on April 13, 2024, surrounded by his family.

A day of viewing and remembrance will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur in Amarillo.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Angel Funeral Home.

He was born in sunny San Bernardino, California, on December 19, 1967, to his parents, Raymundo Cervantes and Mary Lou Yniguez. Tony built his life on his own terms. His strong will and determination were evident from his early days, allowing him to find success as a heavy equipment operator at Advanced Pavement Solutions for over fifteen years.

While being his own person, Tony was not one to shy away from his bold nature. Known for his straightforwardness and a hint of sarcasm, he balanced it out with a deep affection for his family. Moving to Amarillo from California in 2006, Tony found love and companionship with Laura, his partner of over two decades, whom he married just months before his passing earlier this year on January 11, 2024.

Tony cherished simple pleasures. He was a die-hard Cowboys fan, indulging in watching the games and rounding off the off-season with the Discovery Channel and old Western movies. When not engrossed in football or TV, he could be found under the hood of a car, reviving old automobiles with his masterful touch.

With his unique spirit and unwavering personality, Tony left a mark on all who knew him and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Antonio was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Yniguez, and a brother, Eddie Cervantes.

He is survived by his wife, Laura, five daughters, Zena, Valerie, Jessica, Tracy, and Lalanyia Yniguez; six sons, Anthony Chavez, Angel, and Adrian Hernandez, Jason, Alex, and Antonio Yniguez Jr; his sister, Monica Cervantes; three brothers, Johnny, Alex and Raymond Jr, Cervantes; and thirteen grandchildren, Joseph, Lauren, Caleb, Rosie, Arianna, Kayden, Steven, Sukara, Vincent, Asuna, Ezra, Keanu and Artemis
