James “Ben” Campos, 66, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully [date of passing]. Born to Beny and Lucy Campos on August 7, 1959, in Amarillo. He was a proud graduate of Caprock High School, where he excelled as a member of the wrestling team.

James' early years were shaped by his involvement in Boy Scouts, which nurtured his lifelong love for nature. Before finding his true calling in the automotive world, he worked as a certified sheet metal worker at Bell Helicopter and held a supervisory position at IBP. His heart, however, was always drawn to cars—particularly hot rods and muscle cars. James had a natural talent for working with and repairing vehicles, and he was fortunate to turn that passion into a fulfilling career.

James' mischievous sense of humor and lighthearted nature were only matched by his deep love for family and friends. He was a protective, caring soul who always put others first, and his warmth and loyalty left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Whether sharing stories around a BBQ, jamming to rock music, or cruising the open road in his favorite car, James’ happiest moments were those spent with his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Bobby Cordova and Marcelo Mendoza, and by a niece, Rachael.

James is survived by his two sons, Ben Campos and his wife Danielle, and Andrew Campos; his stepchildren, Monique Granado and Raymons Granado and his wife Sandy; three sisters, Jo anne Cordova, Denise Campos, and Geri Campos; his grandchildren, Benny, Nehemiah, Nya, Arturo, Ezekiel, Trevino and Rey; and many loving nieces and nephews.
