March 10, 1935 — November 10, 2025

Amarillo

Billie Gail Porter, 90, of Amarillo passed peacefully on November 10, 2025.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur. The funeral service will be held in the Angel Funeral Home Chapel of Angels on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2 pm with Pastor Corky Holland of First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Billie was born on March 10, 1935, in Fort Worth to Sallie Gaylor Price and Brynon Leo Price. Less than a year later, Sallie and Billie moved to Amarillo where Sallie’s parents lived. There, Sallie met and married Willie Comer Clark. Although Mr. Clark never legally adopted her, he was “Daddy” and raised her as his own. She later became big sister to Mary Louise and Comer Dewayne.

Billie attended first grade in Amarillo, then moved to Dalhart where she completed the rest of her schooling. She graduated one night from Dalhart High School, and the next day married Robert Steed Lockhart on May 3, 1953, in the First Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Billie and Robert had three children - Mary Denise, Connie Gail, and Douglas Robert. All three children completed school in Dalhart.

Billie moved to Amarillo and went to work in the Montgomery Ward catalog store and then Kerr Paper Company where she worked for several years. In 1970, she took a job at Amarillo Coca-Cola where she remained for over a decade. In March 1970, she married Jarrell D. Porter. Around 1989, the two moved back to Jarrell’s hometown of Carter, OK where his parents and three children lived. She worked for Puckett’s Warehouse and Dr. Robinson’s medical office in Sayre. When Jarrell passed away in January of 1993, Billie returned to their home in Amarillo where she worked in a fabric store on 6th street and Harrington Cancer Center, where she later retired from. It was this time in her life that Billie was able to enjoy traveling, looking after her mother, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren.

Billie was an experienced seamstress and was known to make beautiful dresses for weddings and special occasions for family members. She always had a love for crafts with some of her favorites including beautiful flower arrangements and wreaths. As her health declined, she moved into assisted living, then a nursing home. There just wasn’t the space required to continue those hobbies, so she learned to crochet. One winter, she crocheted so many beanies to donate to the homeless. Her most recent joy was diamond paintings. Oh man, did she love to make them for all her loved ones, and really anyone that requested them. She always had beads everywhere in her room!

Above all else, Billie loved big, always had a smile on her face, and cared for friends and family deeply. Her family was her whole world. She was blessed with a couple special relationships that added Rhonda, Jaime, Jared, Rick, & Lisa to her family circle.

Billie is preceded in death by her mother Sallie Bridges; step-father Bill Bridges; step-father “Daddy” Willie Comer Clark; biological father Brynon Price; husband Jarrell Porter; sister Mary Louise Birdsong; and brother Comer Dewayne Clark.

Billie is survived by her children, Mary Denise Brown and Connie Wilhelm both of Amarillo, TX and son Doug Lockhart and wife Jana of Duncan OK. 6 Grandchildren - Kevin Brown and wife Erinn; Lori Atha and husband Jimmy; Jennifer Wilson and husband Craig; Brandon Wilhelm and wife Kaci; Heath Wilhelm; and Jonathon Lockhart and wife Casey. 10 Great-grandchildren - Kelton Harbison, James Atha, Landen Atha, Macie Brown, Mason Brown, Remington Lockhart, Russell Lockhart, Reese Wilhelm, Miles Wilhelm, and Thea Wilhelm.
