Caroline Fay McMinn

February 24, 1945 — March 24, 2024

Amarillo

Carolyn Fay Kennedy McMinn, age 79, of Amarillo, entered her heavenly home on March 24, 2024.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Hillside Christian North Campus, 600 Tascosa Road.  The Rev. Chris Condit will officiate.  Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East.

Caroline was born in Egan, a non-incorporated town in Claiborne County, Tennessee, on February 24, 1945, to her parents, Bud and Mary Louise Kennedy.  Caroline was one of twelve children, growing up as a coal miner’s daughter.  She graduated from Pruden High School in 1964, where she was the secretary and treasurer for her senior class.

She and her daughters moved to Amarillo, where she would meet the love of her life, Forrest Matthew McMinn Jr.  The couple married on January 24, 1984.

Caroline had a beautiful smile, infectious laugh, a little spunk, and boundless energy. She was a bowling league member and played a mean game of cards.  Caroline loved Mother Nature. She had a way of getting you to see nature and the world's beauty through her eyes.   The way she loved was incredible; her passion for cooking, the outdoors, reading, gardening, life, and, of course, her family!  She cherished and loved family and was proud of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandbabies! She would always giggle at something silly the kiddos would do and say, "That just tickles me!" they would get equally tickled when she'd share her love of dance with them and start to Jitterbug!

Caroline leaves behind so much knowledge, advice, and love.  She will be forever loved and missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Earl, James, Henry, Franklin, and Robert Kennedy, and her sisters Anna Lou Kennedy, Vickie Kennedy, Billie Glandon, and Shirley March.

She is survived by her beloved, Forrest Matthew McMinn; her two daughters, Kelly Ketchum, and Kendra Ketchum; two sisters, Jan Knox and Betty Jo Bramlette; four grandchildren, Christian Smith, Krischel Marquez and her husband Geoffrey, Manuel Carrillo Jr., and Joshua Carrillo; and six great-grandchildren, Davian, Braylen, Taycen, Addison, Emmalyn, and Jade.
