David Clinton Walters

May 16, 1947 — May 26, 2026

Amarillo, Texas

David Clinton Walters, 79, of Amarillo, passed on May 26, 2026.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.

David was born on May 16, 1947, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Clinton Uless and Elsie Leona (Davis) Walters. He graduated from Keys High School in Keys, Oklahoma. From an early age, David had a knack for learning new things. He became a handyman who could literally do just about anything; a Jack of all trades, Master of none. From plumbing, welding, and even a little cowboying, there really wasn’t anything Jack couldn’t learn how to do. He fixed the family vehicles, patched up the house when needed, and was almost completely self-taught, learning on the go.

When not fixing or working on one of his many projects, David could often be found with a rod and reel in his hand at one of his favorite fishing spots hoping to land the big catch of the day. Even if he didn’t catch a single fish, he was just at peace on the water. He would often take hikes on reservation land in search of arrowheads or other treasures. David and Samantha enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses together. David was a powerful man of God who transformed his life. He loved to minister to anyone who would listen, preaching the word of God to all who were lost searching for hope. Together, he and Samantha were members of Galilee Church of God and Christ.

But above all, David was a family man. He married Samantha Blythe-Jackson on October 28, 1999, in Belen, New Mexico. The two built a life together structured on the foundation of faith and devotion. He adored and cherished his children and grandchildren, especially Samantha and his little Scarlett who he and Samantha were raising.

David was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Samantha and their granddaughter Scarlett of the home, daughters, Sarah, Stephanie, Shannon, and Rosa, sons, Dathan, Richard, Joseph, and Scott; sister Kay Whaley and husband Richard, brother, Jong Walters and wife Brenda, as well as his numerous grandchildren and nephews.
