Daddy always understood the sweetness that sat deep within darkness. The beauty in things damaged. He knew damn well there was more to this world than all of this. But not so arrogant as to claim he knew exactly what. He knew the best of ourselves was nothing tangible. And that life was often hard and painful. But he did see the beauty in the little things in life. A peanut butter sandwich. A great cup of coffee. A song that pulled at the heart strings. He loved his family? with everything in himself. And did an amazing job of being the father to his children that he never had. He raised them? to accept all faiths and beliefs all skin colors and lifestyles. He was a greaser with the heart of a hippy. A 5 foot 5 bad ass that smoked filterless cigarettes and loved old western movies. In lieu of flowers, listen to a Johnny Cash song, enjoy a cup of coffee and remember Big Dave for the gentle man that he was.
