Amarillo

Dee Ann Johnson (nee Dillow) died peacefully on June 25, 2025, at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, TX, surrounded by her husband, daughter, and son after a short, brave battle with multiple myeloma. In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated, with a private family memorial service to be held at a later date.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Dover, DE, on September 22, 1956, to Reva Jane (nee Cuthbert) and Homer Gene Dillow. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lynn Bown, and her parents, all of O'Fallon, IL.

Dee Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jon L. Johnson; their daughter, JoBeth Johnson Hodges of Lorton, VA; their son, Jordan R. Johnson (Aarika) of Amarillo, TX; brother Bruce A. Dillow (Kathy) of Plainfield, IL; grandsons Andrew M. Hodges and Evan L. Hodges of Lorton, VA; Nathaniel E. Cole, and Cooper C. Johnson of Amarillo, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Radford High School in Honolulu, HI, in 1974 and attended McKendree College in Lebanon, IL, where she met her future husband, best friend, and love of her life, Jon. She received an Associate of Applied Science degree from Belleville Area College in Belleville, IL, in 1976. Dee Ann earned the Certified Professional Secretary award in 1984.

She and Jon started their family while living in St. Louis County, MO, where both children were born. They moved to Amarillo, TX, in 1990 and back to St. Louis County in 2006. After retirement, they returned to Amarillo in 2022.

Dee Ann was a wonderful wife who made a loving home of every house she and Jon shared, and a caring mother who gave generously of her time. While JoBeth and Jordan were growing up, Dee Ann assisted with Girl Scouts, their team sports, and the Amarillo High Speech Team Boosters.

Dee Ann worked in clerical/administrative support for many years, including Emerson Electric in St. Louis County and Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. She concluded her career as a medical transcriptionist for The Imaging Center in St. Louis County, Missouri. She loved reading and spending time with family.
