Dorothy Lucille (Eatherly) Hoover

Dorothy Lucille Hoover, 86, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on January 18, 2024.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 10am in the funeral home’s Chapel of Angels with Pastor Randall Byers of Second Baptist Church presiding.

Dorothy was born on January 12, 1938 in Paris, Texas to John and Helen (Vickers) Eatherly. She graduated from Paris High School in 1956. Following graduation, she married Billy G. Hoover. Dorothy enjoyed her life. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and bonus grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, listening to bluegrass music, cooking, spending time with her family, and most of all drinking a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning.

She was very loving and caring, and had a strong relationship with God. Everyone knew how honest she was. And she didn’t care if it was good or bad, she always spoke her mind. She enjoyed gardening and farming.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy, daughter Carolynn Gage, and siblings Jimmie Mullins, Estell Batch, and Wanda Brytany. Those left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren Shawnda Beard, Sharon, Shelly, and Billy Gage, great-grandchildren Antwan Beard and wife Alayna and Cyrus Beard and wife Breeana, Emma Gage, Special thanks to  Stephanie Saldana,  great-great-grandchildren Amarah Beard and baby Beard due in August 2024; and niece Debbie Mullins; as well as bonus-grandchildren Zakary, Matthew, and Misty Nunn, Jonathan, Israel, and Adrianna Anaya, Jalen and Tyreak Lyons, Riley and Justin Whitworth, Bill Hearn, Shay Phillips, Collin Moppin, and Demetre Green.
