Emma Hernandez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025. She was 82 years old.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm with Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S Arthur. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2500 Bolton St, with Reverend Cesar Gomez presiding. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery East.

Born on August 19, 1942, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Emma was the daughter of Bernarda and Benny Martinez. She was one of several siblings and is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Rosa Martinez, Mary Lou Martinez, Martin Martinez, Ralph Martinez, Antonia Martinez and one grandson Salomon Craine. She is survived by her brother, Johnny Martinez.

Emma leaves behind her husband, Anthony Hernandez, whom she loved dearly. Together they shared a lifetime of memories built on love, strength, and family.

She was the proud mother of five daughters and three sons, all of Amarillo, Texas. Her daughters include Carmen Garza; Josie Craine and husband Randy Craine; Teresa Cristan and husband Steve Cristan; Christina Rodriguez and husband John Rodriguez; and Rachel Archuleta and husband Eugene Archuleta. Her sons are Paul Hernandez and wife Rachel Terrazas; Ray Hernandez and Linda; and Manuel Hernandez and wife Mary Jane Hernandez.

She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved with her whole heart.

Emma cherished being surrounded by her family. She loved hosting get-togethers, sharing laughter, and spending time with her loved ones—almost as much as she enjoyed her visits to Walmart. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and each of them will carry the joyful memories they made with her.

Emma’s kindness, strength, and deep love for her family touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
