Esther Lavern Ellis

Esther Lavern Ellis, 94, of Amarillo died November 2, 2020 after a short illness.

A memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, Amarillo.

Esther was born December 8, 1925 to Earl John Ellis and Lola May Thomas Ellis at their home in Stevens County, KS. She attended high school at the Friends Bible Academy in Haviland, KS. She had many talents, and worked for many years as a nurse and a home healthcare nurse. In the early 1950’s, she was terminally ill with tuberculosis but was healed by God in a tent meeting conducted by Oral Roberts. Her greatest joy was giving her testimony of the healing and singing spiritual songs with her long-time best friend, Melba.

She is preceded in death by two husbands, Arthur Taylor and Roger Coker; her parents; grandson, Ryan Rimple; sisters, Lilian Earlene Ellis Massey and Ella May Ellis Pennington; and brothers, Eldon Lowell Ellis and Harold John Ellis.

Esther is survived by her daughter, LaTricia Casteel of Amarillo; grandson, Shawn Rimple; great-grandchildren, Evan Shawn Rimple, Ethan Keith Rimple, Jase Duane Rimple and Jayden Rimple; sisters, Doris Harnden of Colorado Springs, CO, Eunice Welch of Falls Church, VA and Avis Brown of Liberal, KS; and many loving family members and friends.
