Eva Perez Parks

May 28, 1936 — June 30, 2020

Eva Perez Parks, 84 passed away on Tuesday June 30th, 2020 in Amarillo, TX.

She was preceded into death by her husband Hiram Parks, her parents Sostenes Perez and Catalina (Recio) Perez and her 7 siblings.

She was the youngest sibling of 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She grew up in Lockhart, TX and later moved to Lubbock, Tx where she met her husband Hiram Parks and worked for Smith Dept. store for 20 years. During this time, she traveled the world with her husband, until his passing in 1986. Her next chapter lead her to assist her sister and brother in law with their business, West Haven Bakery in Amarillo, Tx. During this time, she developed a lifelong friendship with Mrs. Bea Wallace (Pickens) and later became her personal assistant.  She was invited to move to Dallas with the Pickens family where she accepted and spent many years.

In the late 90’s she retired to start her most precious journey of caring for her loved ones. She devotedly cared for and comforted her siblings as well as proudly participated in the upbringing of her nieces and nephews.  Never having children of her own, she was a nurturer and showered guidance over the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of her beloved siblings

She was a master storyteller. She was very animated and with the help of her sister, they could make you laugh until you cried. She had a life experience tale for every occasion.

Her cooking made you feel at home. Not only was it delicious, she could whip of a feast with a mere two ingredients for any number of people. She knew each family member’s favorite snack and always had it ready when they came to visit. In turn, every visitor left with happy heart and satisfied appetite.

She had a love for the game of bingo. Even if there were no winnings, she treasured her time with her beloved sister and niece.

Eva was tough as nails. She was not one to sugar coat and told it like it was. Our Aunt Eva was the epitome of selflessness. We could never repay her for taking care of us, especially when we needed her the most.

Grave side services will be on Friday July 3rd at 1pm at Memorial Park Cemetery.
