Florence 'Shelly' Wells

Florence "Shelly" Wells, 61, of Amarillo, passed away on June 7, 2024.

Shelly's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur in Amarillo. 

Shelly was born on March 25, 1963, in Dumas, Texas to Bill Warnke and Donna Kay Robertson. She graduated from River Road High School in 1981 and achieved her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Amarillo College in 2006. Shelly was an incredibly intelligent individual who had a gift for technology. Her computer smarts and savviness of technology ushered her into being the Eastridge Elementary School Computer Lab Instructor for many years. While working at Eastridge, she became very involved with the school. Her love of not only teaching computer technology, but the children of the community led her to taking on the role of instructor and coach for the Vietnamese Dragon Dancers for the school's annual multicultural festival. 

Following her time at Eastridge, Shelly found her way to Bonham Middle School where she held the title of Inclusion Support Educator. She loved working with children with special needs and helping them find their way in a classroom or public setting. In her spare time, she became incredibly crafty. She loved doing bead work and giving things such as bracelets to her students to help them cope with anxiety. Shelly was also a very talented crocheter and quilter. She was known as Kiki to her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. 

Shelly is preceded in death by her mother, and her first husband Robert Wells. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter Krista Jones and husband Mark and their three children, Dave Roby with whom she spent her life with since 2015, sister Paula Bowers and husband Michael, her father Bill Warnke and wife Sally, her Aunt Lynda Stephenson and husband Mark; as well as many extended family and dear friends.
