In loving memory of Herbert Wheat (May 28, 1949 – November 24, 2023)
Herbert Wheat, 74, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully in the embrace of sleep on November 24, 2023. Born May 28, 1949, Herb lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering commitment.
Herb proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps member. Embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. He was honorably discharged on March 3, 1974, leaving behind a legacy of duty and patriotism that will forever be remembered.
Herb enjoyed fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and going to garage sales. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Herb was preceded in death by his brothers, Boyd Wheat of Broken Bow, OK, Larry Wheat of Broken Bow, OK, Bryant Wheat of Amarillo, TX, Charles W. Wheat of Amarillo, TX, and sister Mary Alexander of Broken Bow, OK. He is survived by his brother Charlie Melear of Amarillo, TX, and sisters Louella Thomas of Amarillo, TX, Marie Glover of Broken Bow, OK, Betty Voshalike of Broken Bow, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
As we mourn Herb’s passing, let us also celebrate the life he lived. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he find eternal rest, and his family and friends find peace.
