James Jefferson Tipton

James Jefferson Tipton, age 70, of Amarillo, passed away on January 4, 2024, in Amarillo.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 South Arthur. Rev. Chris Condit of Hillside Christian Church will officiate.

James was born on September 15, 1953, in Tyler, TX, to Winell Thomas. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1973. James was an incredible athlete and was known as a “Jack of all trades.” He could do anything, his strong work ethic was on display throughout his life.  James was a loving husband to his high school sweetheart, Debbie, for 52 years. They began their journey on an unplanned “Date” at Wonderland Amusement Park. His love for Debbie never faded from that moment. He was a loving father for 51 years. Always present on spontaneous family trips, fishing, horse races, and treks to California. Always supportive of all the kids' activities in school and later as adults. To give all he had to give, in his own way, to support and show his unfailing love. James was a hard worker and was dedicated to his family and was present throughout the good and bad times. You could always depend on James for support and encouragement to improve things.

James is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Pearl and Larine Tipton, and his mother Winell Thomas.

James is survived by his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Tisha Sieck and husband Kevin of Pampa, Jennifer Hall of Amarillo; and by his son Jeff Tipton and his wife Lanea of Amarillo; four sisters, Rena Dunivan and husband Rusty, Teena Prather, Jena Stultz and husband John, and Star Thomas all of Amarillo, and his brother, Robert Buchanan and wife Denise of Colorado. His aunts Nevada Smith and Ceta Miller of Amarillo. James had ten grandchildren, Blake, Caitlin, Brandon, Hallie, Kendall, Makinna, Kylee, Kyler, Brooklyn, and Carter, and seven great-grandchildren and his loyal canine companions, Elvis, Aaron, Daisy, and Corky.
