Jesus "Chuy" Salazar

June 13, 1969 — January 23, 2022

Amarillo

Jesus “Chuy” Salazar passed on January 23, 2022, in his home in Amarillo and will always be remembered by his loving family and his wife Armandina Salazar.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 1pm to 5pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur in Amarillo. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Angel Funeral Home.

Jesus was born on June 13th, 1969, in Mexico to his parents Ramiro Salazar Sr., and Martha Rivera. No amount of words or time could ever fulfill the place he held within the family. He was the caregiver, handyman, pet lover, and the best joke teller who never failed to light up a room. Guillermo remembers his dad and all the times they would ride in his truck together listening to music and talking. Hector remembers their late-night talks at the dinner table about aliens and UFOs, building the fence together in the backyard, the many times they fixed the impala together, the early car rides to school with the music on full blast, and walking into the house and seeing Chuy on the couch in the same spot where he always sat smiling and greeting him as he entered. Nikita remembers helping him fix cars because her hands were smaller than his and she could reach in all the small areas where his hands couldn’t fit. Maverick remembers the day Chuy asked him to go help him pick up Mandy because she had hit a deer on the way to Hector’s football camp, the two spent two and a half hours listening to soft rock. To Maverick, Chuy was a soft rock hippie that was always joking around and making him laugh; he always had tons of advice about life, and he was a good man who Jayleen would always call Chuy Boobie. His wife, Mandy, has many wonderful memories with “Chuy” and the two shared an unbreakable love, countless laughs, and a connection that could be seen and felt by all who knew them. Jesus was loving, caring, hardworking, and many other attributes that would take pages to list, his wife and his family will continue to honor his memory and his wife will always carry their love with her, “Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favorite”

He is preceded in death by his sons: Guillermo Salazar, Christopher Torres, Maverick Torres, and Hector Mungia; daughters: Nikita Munguia, Ruth Salazar, and Carolina Salazar. As well as three grandchildren: Caleb Salazar, Jayleen Torres, and Ozahri Matthews and siblings Ramiro Salazar Jr. and Sara Salazar.
