Johnny R Cook

July 3, 1963 — December 6, 2023

Amarillo

Johnny R. Cook, beloved father, brother, son, and friend, passed away at age 60 and entered into heaven on December 6, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Johnny was born on July 3, 1963, in Amarillo, Texas to Judith A. Cook.

Johnny was a gifted artist with a real talent for portraiture. He kept pen and paper close by. At 6’3, he was a gentle giant. His siblings remember being hoisted on their big brother’s shoulders for rides around the house or down the block. His little brother adoringly called him “Bubba.” “Bubba” was quite a character and loved to joke around. He also loved listening to classic rock music so the whole house could hear.

He cared deeply for his family and devoted his life to them. His love was unconditional. Johnny was humble and giving. He would give anything he had to someone in need.

He was preceded by his biological father before birth, Walter D. Cook; his stepfather, Glenn Neff; his grandfather, Stanley R. Crowell; his grandmother, Bessie M. Crowell; and his uncle Noble G. Bishop.

He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Cook; his mother, Judith Medlin, and her husband Bill Medlin; his sister, Jennice Ormsbee, and her husband, Pete Ormsbee; their two daughters, Kelli Olson, her two boys Jace and Kaden; Kayla Piper, and her wife, Monica Piper, and their two boys, Tucker and Nolan; his sister Jana Olguin, and her children, Celene, Zoey, and Jayden; his brother, Shawn Crowell, and his significant other, Andrea DeLeon, and their boys, Zaiden and Geriah.
