Joshua Charles McCauley age 49 of Amarillo was escorted home by him mom, where he was greeted by his Mema and Papa and his aunt Debbie.
Joshua was born February 1, 1973 in Amarillo to Rick and Amelia McCauley. Josh was the youngest of 3 grandchildren and the last boy in the family. Growing up the family spent many weekends together camping at Lake Altus or fishing at Red River. When not gone, Josh, Michelle and Crystal spent their weekends with Mema and Papa, where they were always outside, riding bikes, playing trucks, building clubhouses, helping in the garden, or helping Papa fix everything.
As he grew older, his love for toy trucks changed into three wheelers and dirt bikes. He learned he could fix anything. Papa taught him, if you break something, you fix it.
Josh was active in Boy Scouts, football and baseball where he excelled all his years playing. He was an excellent catcher and if he was up to bat 9 times out of 10 the pitcher would walk him because they knew if he hit that ball, it was GONE! He joked that he had to hit it over the fence so he didn’t have to run bases. His mom and Crystal were his biggest fans from Little League to high school.
He was the only grandchild to graduate high school, and his family was probably more excited than he was. Josh had a great love for animals and anything with a motor and had many of both. He loved being around family and friends, whether it be a BBQ or going to the lake, he always invited everyone.
Josh overcame many obstacles in life. Some of those may have slowed him down, but nothing could stop him. If you ever needed him, he was there.
He is survived by his sister, Teressa “Michelle” McCool and husband Mark; children, Kirsten Andrews and husband Eddie, Joshua McCauley III; grandchildren, Jozie, Kaeson, Joshua, Gracie; niece, Leanna; cousins, Crystal Thomas and husband Wayne and Kaela Smith.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Alan Lang for helping with his precious animals during the last few weeks of his illness.
