Obituary

Linda Kay Larson, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, at her home, surrounded by those she loved.

SERVICES ARE PENDING AT THIS TIME.

Linda was born on February 15, 1949, in Ennis, Texas, to her parents, J.C. and Ezell Sprouse Ray. She graduated from Ennis High School before continuing her education at North Texas University. Linda went on to enjoy a long and successful career in banking, beginning at Tascosa National Bank and eventually retiring from FirstBank Southwest in 2020. Throughout her career, she built lasting relationships and earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues and customers.

Linda was a fiercely independent woman with a strong work ethic and an even stronger devotion to her family. As a single mother, she lovingly raised her two children, Jamie and Brad, making certain that, no matter how hard she had to work, they never missed out on making wonderful memories together. Whether it was a family vacation to South Padre Island or a trip to Colorado to visit relatives, Linda always found a way to make it happen. She treasured her time with her children, and the memories they made together were among her greatest joys.

In 1982, a gentleman by the name of Glenn Larson, who happened to be one of her banking customers, asked Linda to dinner. As they say, the rest is history! After fourteen years of dating, the couple finally made it official on April 20, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada, with none other than "Elvis" officiating their wedding. It was a fitting beginning to a marriage filled with love, laughter, adventure, and a little bit of the unexpected.

Linda and Glenn shared a passion for traveling and experiencing all that life had to offer. Through Glenn's work with classic car auctions, Linda had the opportunity to accompany him across the country, exploring new places and making friends along the way. Their adventures also took them abroad, with Roatán, Honduras, holding a special place in Linda's heart. She was never one to let age slow her down or keep her from enjoying an adventure. In fact, as recently as February of this year, Linda could be found parasailing over the beautiful waters of Costa Maya, Mexico. That was Linda—always ready for the next adventure and determined to enjoy every moment life had to offer.

Linda had a tremendous love for animals, especially her beloved cat, Boogie, whom she proudly claimed to have taught to talk! She delighted in spending time with her family and friends and had a special fondness for what she called "destination lunches." These were no ordinary lunch dates. With Glenn as their pilot, Linda and her companions would simply hop on the plane, fly to a small town somewhere, enjoy a wonderful lunch, and then head back home. For Linda, the destination was only part of the fun; it was the adventure and the company that made the day special.

And then there was Linda's other favorite pastime—gambling! One might even affectionately describe her as a "professional gambler." She loved the excitement of the slot machines and was always happy to try her luck. Whether she was enjoying a casino, listening to good music, soaking up the sunshine along the Texas Gulf Coast, or simply sharing laughter with those she loved, Linda knew how to have a good time.

Linda lived life with a wonderful sense of independence, adventure, and enthusiasm. She worked hard, loved deeply, and never lost her desire to see what was waiting around the next corner. She understood that life was meant to be experienced, that memories were worth making, and that the best moments were often those shared with the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her stepson, Dennis Allen Larson.

Linda is survived by her husband of thirty years, Glenn; her children, Jamie Tomberlin and Brad Haley and his wife April all of Amarillo; her step-daughter, Mychelle Larson of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Dorothy “Dot” Berry of Amarillo; her brother Jim Ray and his wife Lanelle of Peyton, CO; her grandchildren, Whitney Harris of Ft. Worth, Ashley Tomberlin of Amarillo, Lauren Cazarez and her husband Randy, Blake Haley of Dallas, Garrett George of NYC, NY, Gracie George and her husband Thomas Zimmerman of Amarillo, and Gaige George of Amarillo; great-grandchildren, Audree better known as “Cookie” to Linda; and Elise Cazarez; her niece and nephew Kelly and Kevin; and close family friends, Tony and Heather Blackwell and Glen and Penny Longworth
