Lourdes Solis

February 17, 1960 — June 21, 2024

Bovina

In the early morning of June 21, 2024, a beautiful soul left this world as Lourdes Solis, our beloved Hula, passed away peacefully. Her journey began on February 17, 1960, in Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico, to her parents Ramon Solis and Teodora Rubio before she made her way to Bovina, Texas. We mourn the loss of a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Angel Funeral Home, Chapel of Angels, 2209 South Arthur, Amarillo, Texas.

Lourdes embodied a true servant's heart, always extending a helping hand to those close to her. Her compassionate love knew no bounds, becoming a safe haven for countless nieces and nephews of her own family under her roof in Bovina. Known as Lou, she also dedicated over three decades of her life to her residents at Prairie Acres Nursing Home, sharing their life and stories often. Whether near or far, Ms. Solis made sure to be by her family's side, offering unwavering support and opening her home to all.

One of the joys she shared was preparing meals for her family, with her chicken tetrazzini and brisket becoming staples at every gathering. She is well known as la Reyna de las Salsas, always making different kinds for her family to savor and share. If there is anything we know for sure, it is that TikTok and Facebook lost a truly loyal fan.

She is now reunited in peace with her beloved parents, Ramon and Teodora, her younger sisters Sylvia Solis and Gaby Solis, and her treasured doggie Smoothie.

Lourdes leaves behind a legacy of love and strength carried on by her surviving daughter, Ericka Vanegas, from Amarillo, Texas, and sons, Omar Nieto and Anibal Nieto, from Bovina, Texas. She is also survived by her four cherished sisters; Nellie Gomez and husband Mario as well as Cecy Solis from Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico, Chayo and husband Chumel Quezada from Roswell, New Mexico, and Alma and husband Richard Rennemer from Logan, New Mexico. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren Carolynn Nieto, Ayanah Nieto, Ayalynn Nieto, Briana Vanegas, Lee Vanegas, Arianna Nieto, and Mary Nieto.

A heartfelt church service will be held at St. Teresa’s Church in Friona, Texas, at 1:00 p.m. immediately following the memorial service.

May her kindness and endless love continue to shine bright in the hearts of her loved ones.
