Lowell Fred Farmer II, 78, of Amarillo, passed peacefully in his home with his beloved wife Pamela by his side on March 4, 2026.
Lowell’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2 pm, in the Angel Funeral Home’s Chapel of Angels, 2209 S. Arthur. He will be inurned in the San Antonio National Cemetery at a later date with full military honors.
Lowell was born in Pampa, Texas on September 7, 1947, to Lowell Fred Jr and Emily Lou (Ahler) Farmer. He graduated from Pampa High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 16, 1967, in Amarillo, Texas. Lowell proudly served his country for the next four years. Following his discharge, he returned to Amarillo and began working for the ASARCO Copper Refinery, a career he would hold for more than 30 years. Lowell married his best friend, Pamela Garten, and the two set off on a journey of building a family and life together that spanned 4 decades of marital bliss, which he would tell everyone was his greatest accomplishment.
Lowell loved his dogs. His hobbies were his dogs, his interests were his dogs, and his passion were his dogs. He looked forward to the day that he would be reunited with his cherished pups that had crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of him. Lowell held dearly the memories he and Pamela created travelling to Europe and taking his precious mom to Las Vegas to celebrate her 100th birthday.
Lowell would tell everyone who asked that the best life advice he could offer was to marry your best friend and never try to change them, and to always be supportive and faithful. He would then continue telling them that God had blessed him in more ways than anyone could imagine. He received the greatest gift a man could ever be given by God. Not wealthy in money, but wealthy in being surrounded by people who dearly loved him and his family. Lowell would go on to say that he wasn’t the ideal father, but God Almighty blessed him with two amazing sons that shared his love and compassion for others. He loved them both very much
Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Connie Farmer. Those left to cherish his memories are his treasured wife, Pamela Farmer, sons, Jason Farmer and Brandon Farmer, adopted daughter, Abby, best friends, Tammy and her husband Greg, as well as many extended family and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, Lowell requested that you please make a donation or volunteer at any of the local animal rescue organizations or shelters.
