Matthew "Young Money" Benavidez

Matthew “Young Money” Benavidez, 33, of Amarillo, passed away surrounded by his family on June 22, 2024.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Angel Funeral Home, Chapel of Angels, 2209 S. Arthur, Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Power Church at 1:00 p.m.

Matthew was born in Amarillo on September 10, 1990, and was raised in Spring Hill, Louisiana. He attended Spring Hill High School, and in 2016, he moved back to Amarillo from Louisiana.

Despite his small stature, Matthew had a big personality. He was very protective of his family, especially the girls. Matthew was a natural-born leader and a caring brother, father, and uncle. He was funny and generous, always putting others before himself. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Perez; stepfather, Thomas Miguel; and Tia Candelaria “La La” Perez. 

He is survived by his children, Trenton Isaiah, Dayton Ray, and Lillie Grace Benavidez; his sisters Faith Rodriguez and Victoria Galan; his brothers Richard Benavidez, Joshua Galan, and Nicholas Benavidez; his mother Michelle Lee Galan; his grandmother Ramona Villanueva and her husband Jose; his grandmother Carolina Dominguez; and the mother of his children, Pamela Goesman. 

We will keep his memory alive and keep his love going strong. Matthew will be missed dearly.
