Odis Darrell Jones, 48, of Amarillo passed away on August 26, 2014.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30 at New Life Church, 406 S Pittsburg with Pastor Spike Maldonado and Pastor Phil Randall officiating. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home 2209 S. Arthur St. Amarillo, Texas.
Odis was born on May 31, 1966 in Floydada, TX. He was the second child of Ernest and Winnie Jones. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School and a star baseball player. Odis joined Johnson Chapel AME church as a young boy singing in the choir. He was employed at (IBP) Tyson Foods for thirty years, retiring just last week. He married Ida Pedragon on September 15, 1987. To this union three daughters were born.
Odis was a generous, loving, God-fearing man who went above and beyond to help those in need. He was the type of man to put other’s needs in front of his own. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and working on and driving his camero.
Odis is preceded in death by his father Ernest Jones, Sr. and three brothers Michael, Russell and Travis.
Mourning his passing are his loving wife, Ida; daughters Deandra and husband Joey Sanchez, Erica and Tracy; two granddaughters; his mother Winnie Jones; a sister Jeanette Franklin; two brothers Ernest Jr and Arthur; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a whole host of relatives and friends plus all who helped him along the way.
