Oliver was born on January 5, 1967, in Wuerzburg, Germany, to Jimmy Douglas and Silvia (Bonenberger) Roberts. He relocated to the states with his family and settled in Amarillo, Texas.
Oliver was a proud graduate of Caprock High School in 1985. A few short months after his high school graduation, he married Linda Lou Arenas on December 13, 1985. Together, they were married 39 years & faithful members of Caprock Baptist Church.
Oliver had a profound faith in God, which was very important to him, a value he instilled in his family. He was very supportive of his children’s extra-curricular activities, and never missed an event .
Oliver was a dedicated family man. This support was passed on to his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as Papa. Oliver worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for many years until age and health forced him into retirement. He achieved many accolades in his time with TxDOT. Oliver was a Special Jobs Assistant, and because of his work ethic and team, they achieved the number one rank among all crews statewide at one time during his tenure.
He was “bubbly” and had a contagious laughter. He never met a stranger that he couldn’t help or ultimately end up becoming friends with. He loved a good prank and well-placed joke. He was incredibly strong, both physically and mentally. Oliver was diagnosed with cancer twice in his life. The first time, he beat it with dignity, and while he succumbed to his second diagnosis, he fought with everything he had until the very end.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Jimmy Douglas Roberts, daughter Sierra Glory Roberts, and brother-in-law Steven Cox.
Those left to continue his legacy of strength include his wife and lifelong sweetheart Linda Roberts, daughters Shanda M. Roberts of Amarillo, Texas; Hannah Salcido and Husband Gabriel of Amarillo, Texas; son Ethan S. Roberts of Amarillo, Texas; his sister Michele Cox; his mother Silvia Jones and stepfather James Jensen; his mother-in-law Mary Jay Arenas, and his pride and joy grandchildren Canaan Roberts, MaKenzie Roberts, Ezra Salcido, Serenity Salcido, and Grace Salcido.
