Pearl Lorraine Marchant was born in 1923 in Pampa, Texas where she graduated from Pampa High School. Pearl moved to Oklahoma City after high school to attend Draughon’s Business College. She was married to Dr. Zeke Bailey Marchant, a professor at West Texas State University from 1942 until his death in 2001. She was employed at Tinker Air Force Base during WWII until her marriage. After moving to Amarillo, Pearl worked as a title clerk at five car dealerships and the Potter County Tax office.
