Rachel Martha Gutierrez, 63, of Amarillo, gained her angel wings on August 17, 2023.
The family will receive guests at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur, from 3pm to 6pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Rosary will begin at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Laurance Catholic Church, 2300 N. Spring St, with Father Taylor Elzner presiding. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery.
She was born on December 16, 1959, to Juan Jose Gutierrez and Cecilia Brown Gutierrez. She was raised in El Paso and moved to Amarillo. She worked in the Refinery industry as a Pipe Fitter for over 15 years that took her to Houston. She was passionate about her job and was known as La Tia to many. She cherished her Catholic Church and her Lord and Savior. Dedicating her life to the Virgin Mary and rosary.
Rachel was devoted, loving, giving, kind-hearted, and always willing to help anyone she met. She was extremely passionate about her Dallas Cowboys and never missed a game. She enjoyed playing slots and scratch-offs and never forgot to buy her Powerball tickets. Her natural curls were so gorgeous that she was nicknamed Grandma Poodle and Tia Fluffy. She had a contagious smile and a laugh that would feel the room with laughter. She was always on the go, whether cooking dinner, making tortillas, or visiting family and friends. She loved her three children and adorned her grandchildren. She will be missed by many and especially her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Juan Jose Gutierrez, and mother, Cecilia Brown Gutierrez, and Brother Micheal Gutierrez.
Rachel is survived by her two sons Lucio Magana Jr. and wife, Britny “ My Nurse” of Amarillo; Joshua Guadalupe Magana of Amarillo; daughter Priscilla Magana of Amarillo; five granddaughters Faith, Peyton “My Buddy,” Rylee “Juju,” Avery “Cookie,” Ava “Avita" and grandson Jose “Trey”; three brothers Daniel Gutierrez of El Paso, Eduardo Gutierrez of Amarillo, and Santiago “Chase” Gutierrez of Amarillo; sister Beatrice Loya of Amarillo; four nieces, Michelle, Mellissa, Ansley, Natalie, and six nephews, Erik, Richard, Danny, Nick, Andrew and Anthony
Rachel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be reunited with her loving mother, father, and brother.
