Randy Boyd Langwell, 68, of Amarillo completed his earthly tour on August 9, 2025, in his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Randy's life will be celebrated on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2 pm in the Schooler Funeral Home's Brentwood Chapel. Military Honors will be provided by Amarillo Volleys for Veterans.

Randy was born on February 9, 1957, in Pensacola, Florida to Johnny Boyd Langwell and Shirley Ann Thies. Randy relocated with his father to New Deal, Texas where Randy went to school at New Deal High School until enlisting in the United States Navy in December of 1975 at just 17 years old. A deeply patriotic man even from a young age, He proudly served his country for the next 20 years achieving the rank of Chief before retiring in January of 1995.

Randy’s service wasn’t done, he went to school to become law enforcement and was Sergeant of Lamb County Sheriff's Department and Lieutenant in Gray County for a total of 14 years. Also he became a fire arms instructor. From there Randy became a Civilian Contractor for the State Department spending time in Iraq and Afghanistan before injuries and age forced him to slow down and hang up his rifle and boots for good. Randy’s passion for protecting those in need was what kept him going. Although he would never accept the title, he was most certainly a true American Hero.

Following his retirement, Randy took up being the Jack-Of-All-Trades that he was. He could fix anything with just a simple YouTube Video to guide him, or knowledge that he picked up over a life spent living it to the fullest. He adored animals and they were drawn to him. The night of his passing, his dog howled as Randy drew his last breath, a sign that he knew the Chief was gone. However, nothing compares to the love Randy had for his family. Randy adored his family. His grandkids were his favorite and he doted over each of them with Debbie taking many photos of him with them to pause that moment in time.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents. Also his brothers, Don and Mike. His daughter, Connie, and his beloved grandson, Taylor. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Debbie, whom he met at the age of 16, reconnected and married in Stonington, Connecticut on November 9, 1994 and spent more than 30 years loving each other. His daughters, Shanntell Sanchez, Shonda Cannon and husband Dustin, Michelle Bankston and husband Bridges, son, Johnnie Langwell and his spouse; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Randy adored his uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews. He has always considered his Uncle Lawrence his second father. He also leaves his sister, Jolene Happ and husband, as well as many cherished extended family members and dear friends. Needless to say, Randy loved and fought for his country in many ways for his entire life. He will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
