Renee Elizabeth Reining

January 27, 1964 — January 23, 2026

Amarillo, Texas

Renee Elizabeth Reining, age 61, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away surrounded by love. Renee was born in 1964 in Amarillo, Texas, to Carol L. Corns and Edward A. Reining. She was raised in Amarillo, where she built a life rooted in family, hard work, and deep compassion for others.

The family will host a celebration of Renee's life on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Church, 1924 S. Polk St with Pastor Randy Srader presiding.

Renee graduated from Caprock High School and later attended Amarillo College, where she pursued her calling as an X-ray technician, graduating in 1985. She went on to serve as an X-ray technician at the Clements Unit for over 20 years, a career she took great pride in until her retirement. Renee’s dedication, intelligence, and steady presence made a lasting impact on both coworkers and patients alike.

Renee was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Krystal Stephens; grandchildren, Shailee, Akili and Justin Harrold as-well as Ethan And Blake Pettipiece; and her great-grandson, Kartier Dandridge. She is also survived by her siblings: Edwina Owens, Buddy Reining, Barb Secek, Bill Reining, Sam Owens, and Beverly Hawks.

Renee had a heart for service and volunteered for many years with children at God of Wonders Church and the Girl Scouts Of America, always finding joy in helping and nurturing others.

She was a woman of many simple but beautiful joys. Renee loved coloring in intricate coloring books, watching home renovation shows, and settling in with a good comedy. She loved baking for the people she cared about and had a special love for savory soups and pastas. Every Thanksgiving, she looked forward to trying foods from different cultures, always curious and excited to experience something new.

Renee was funny, caring, and wonderfully stubborn in the way only someone strong and loving can be. She could hold intelligent conversations with anyone and had a way of making people feel seen and comfortable. She deeply loved her Pomeranian, Jazzy, who passed shortly before she did and whom she took everywhere.

Family meant everything to Renee. She always made sure her loved ones were taken care of. She had nicknames for all her grandchildren and for her daughter, little traditions that made each relationship feel special. She often reminded them, “Don’t call me if you go to jail,” followed by, “Stay out of jail and keep your nose clean,” a phrase that became one of her signature sayings. She ended many conversations with, “I love you to the moon and back,” words that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.

Renee loved to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, a gentle lullaby that now holds even deeper meaning.

Renee was also blessed with a lifelong best friend, Brandy, who had been by her side since high school, sharing countless memories, laughter, and adventures.

Renee’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion to family. Though she is no longer physically with us, she lives on in the way she loved, the way she cared, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
