Reyes R. Salazar

Reyes R. Salazar, age 84, of Amarillo, passed away on January 19, 2024, in Amarillo.

Public viewing will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until service time at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 South Arthur.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Angel Funeral Home.  The Rev Greg Corona of Hillside Christian Church will officiate.

Reyes was born in Amarillo on January 6, 1940, to his parents, Leo and Frances Quintana Salazar. He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and Price College.  In January 1957, he began his military service as a US Marine and served through 1960.

On November 1, 1989, he married Nora Fajardo in Amarillo. He was loud and, most generally, the life of the party.  His motto – live life and have fun!  He enjoyed dancing and playing the lotto, was a great pool player, and loved bingo.

Reyes had a way of making people smile.  He cared deeply for his family and friends.

Reyes is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosemary Salazar; brothers, Fernando Salazar and Charlie Salazar; and a stepson, Dimitri Romero.

Reyes is survived by his wife, Nora; daughters, Marta Sullivan, Darla Wynn, Norinda Salazar and husband, David, Renee Salazar, and stepdaughter, Julie Perez and husband, Jesus; sons, Phillip Salazar, Paul Salazar and wife, Nina, David Salazar, Ray Salazar and stepson Johnny Romero and wife, Becky; sister, Angie Salazar Carrasco; brothers, Johnny Salazar and wife, Jolene, Frankie Salazar and wife, Pauline, Christian Salazar and Tommy Salazar and wife Alma; twenty-three grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
