Robert E. Nickels, of Amarillo, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2020, at the age of 69. The world has lost a loving son, devoted brother, and dedicated father.

Robert was born February 23, 1951, to Carl C. and Lois L. Nickels. Having been born and raised in Amarillo, he graduated from Palo Duro High school, where he was a member of the Key Club. He was an avid bowler, participating in Amarillo bowling leagues for many years. He was a very charming man who was skilled in many trades and loved reading, telling stories, but above all, his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by three children. His daughter Angela C. Hartfelder of Amarillo and her husband Eric, by his previous wife Marita Nickels of Amarillo; and two sons, Carl W. Nickels of Amarillo and his wife Brittany, and Bradly W. Nickels of Amarillo and his spouse Danielle, by his previous wife Dawn Truax of Toledo, Ohio and her wife Jennifer. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Nickels of Amarillo, his sister Doris Cox of Amarillo and her husband Don, his brother Kenneth Nickels of Fort Worth, Texas and his wife Barbara, and his sister Judy Del Pozo of Amarillo and her husband Jon. He has sixteen grandchildren: Susan, Michaela, Noah, Christopher, Alex, Kaydence, Elizabeth, Caleb, Liam, Natalie, Casey, Angel, Madison, Rose, Brad, Avery, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jackie Nickels of Temple Texas, and his son Steven Nickels of Amarillo, by his previous wife Sherry Wilkin of Amarillo.
