SE “Sam” Grider Sr, 85, of Clarendon, Texas, passed peacefully in Amarillo on May 27, 2025.
The family will celebrate Sam’s life on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2pm in the Howardwick First Baptist Church, with Pastor John Fox presiding.
Sam was born in Altus, Oklahoma on June 18, 1939 to Roy A Sr and Modybell (Beavers) Grider. He attended Walcott High School where he left school in the 11th grade to pursue the trades. Sam took up work in the Plumbing industry and became a Master Plumber.
Sam loved being outdoors. He had gardens of flowers and vegetables that he tended to meticulously year round. When not putting in a hard day’s work or tending his gardens, Sam could most likely be found at one of his many fishing spots. He loved to sit on the bank watching his pole, waiting and hoping to land the big one.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty, and brother, Roy Jr. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Debra Berg and Dan,sons, SE “Sam” Grider Jr and Rafaela, and Mitchell Z. Grider and Shirley, sisters, Patricia “Ann” Kirkland, Karen Kay Tatum and Doug, and Reba Ray Hays; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and cherished friends.
