Visitation will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 9 am to 1 pm at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St. A celebration of Jim's life will follow at 2 pm.

There are some souls whose presence leaves an imprint that time cannot erase. Santiago “Jim” Sanchez was one of those souls.

Born on March 6, 1966, in Hidalgo County, Texas, to Francisco Sanchez and Ramona Hernandez, Jim carried with him the strength, resilience, and pride of his Mexican heritage throughout his life. He believed in working hard, standing by those he loved, and facing life’s challenges with courage and determination. His earthly journey came to a peaceful close on July 5, 2026, but the love, wisdom, and legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

Jim dedicated much of his life to serving his community through his work with Potter County and Randall County. He believed that service was more than a profession—it was a calling. Whether he was helping others through his work or lending a hand to family, friends, or neighbors, Jim quietly demonstrated that integrity is measured not by words, but by actions.

Above every title he ever held, the one he cherished most was husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He shared a lifetime of love with his devoted wife, Gracie Sanchez, building a family rooted in loyalty, strength, perseverance, and unconditional love.

Jim leaves behind his beloved daughters:

  • Ashley Sanchez-Perkins, proud mother of Jameson Sanchez-Brown and Ja’Drien Sanchez, of Amarillo, Texas.
  • Jamie Sanchez, proud mother of Aidan Sanchez-Garcia and Alanah Garcia, of Amarillo, Texas.
  • Grace (Jordan) Sanchez-Miller II, wife of Clarence Miller II, and proud mother of Ma’kayla Sanchez, of Amarillo, Texas.
  • Sandy Sanchez-Hughes, wife of Michael Hughes, loving parents to Zariah Sanchez, Malaki Sanchez-Burroughs, Liliana Hughes, Reise Hughes, and Alix Hughes, all of Balch Springs, Texas.

Jim was also blessed with two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter, each a beautiful reminder that his legacy will continue for generations to come.

To his grandchildren, Jim was far more than a grandfather. He was a protector, a teacher, a storyteller, and a steady source of encouragement. His greatest lessons were never spoken loudly—they were lived every day through his kindness, work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family.

He found joy in life’s simple moments: spending time with those he loved, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating memories that will forever be treasured. Those who were fortunate enough to know Jim will remember his generous heart, his resilience through life’s challenges, and the calm strength he carried into every room.

Although his physical journey has ended, his spirit remains woven into the hearts of everyone who loved him. Love does not end with death—it transforms. It lives on in every story shared, every lesson remembered, every tradition continued, and every act of compassion inspired by his life.

As each sunrise greets a new day, may it remind us that every ending gives way to a new beginning. Jim’s light continues to shine through his family, whose lives reflect the values he instilled: love, perseverance, humility, and devotion to one another.

His family invites all who knew and loved him to celebrate a life marked by service, strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. While our hearts grieve his absence, we are forever grateful for the gift of his life and the countless memories that will remain with us always.
