Steven Wade Farley

December 17, 1955 — April 27, 2014

Steven Wade Farley, 58, of Amarillo died April 27, 2014.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 316 Valley Ave with Pastor Rob Blum officiating. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St.

Steve was born on December 17, 1955 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Perry and Adele Farley.  He played basketball and ran cross country in high school, turning down a scholarship to Oregon State to stay close to home. He received a Master’s degree in history from Oklahoma State University. Steve was a happy go lucky man who never said a bad word about anyone and lived his life to the fullest. You could always count on him for a good joke. He loved sports of all kinds and rarely missed a game when his beloved Sooners played.  Steve served as an MP in the Army. He loved playing cards, slots, and singing karaoke. Steve worked for Groendyke Transport until his illness forced him to retire.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and a sister Shannon Powell.

He is survived by his parents, Perry and Adele Farley; three children, Jackie Sharp and husband Mike, Josh Farley and wife Jamie and Jake Farley and wife Becca; three step-children, Ron Hobbs and wife Linette, Mike Hobbs and Andrea Morris; ten grandchildren (and two on the way); two nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and friends, all of whom adored him.

The family wants to express its gratitude to the Harrington Cancer Center and BSA Hospice for making his last months and days as comfortable as possible.

Family suggest memorial contributions be made to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation in care of BSA Hospice, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106 or BCS Medical Center League House, 7000 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106.
