Thomas Edward Russell Sr., age 78 of Amarillo died March 14, 2016.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 21st at Angel Funeral Home, Chapel of Angels. The Rev. Jerry Davey will officiate. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 South Arthur.
Thomas was born August 14, 1937 to Robert and Zelda Russell in Amarillo. On July 1, 1963 he married Edna Davis in Clayton, New Mexico. Thomas worked for many years as a bus driver for New Mexico Transportation and TNMO. He retired after thirty three years. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Robert E. Russell Jr., and John E. Russell; a sister Darlene Peters; a son, Ronald “Ronnie” Newman; and his brothers in law, Ralph York and Kim Lunn.
Thomas is survived by his wife Edna Davis Russell; three sons Bill “Bear” Pickering and wife Steffanie, Thomas E. Russell Jr., and Jack O. Russell and wife Karri; three daughters, Cynthia Bravo and friend Bobby, Lisa Merkel and husband Eddie, and Judy Carr; a daughter in law, Jackie Newman; two brother in laws, Ronnie York and Andy Wyatt and wife Ann; five sister in laws, Bobbie Wheeler and husband Jim, Jackie Lunn, Mattelea Havron husband Norman, Melody Purdy and husband Dan, and Jackie Mullins; thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephew; and two life-long friends Jack Dudley and Bob Beckham.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in Thomas’s name to BSA Hospice, 600 N Tyler, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
