Victoria Duarte

January 5, 1930 — January 26, 2022

Victoria (Arevalo) Duarte, 92, of Amarillo passed into the glory of God the Father on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm in the Angel Funeral Home Chapel of Angels, 2209 S. Arthur. Rosary will be said beginning at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 2pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1210 SE 11th Ave, with Father Jose Gomez presiding. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery East Garden of Gethsemane. Following the services, the family will gather at 3308 S. Eddy St in the Club Room.

Victoria was born in Amarillo, Texas on January 5, 1930 to Jesus and Piedad (Naranjo) Arevalo. At the young age of 3, her parents uprooted and took their children to Michoacan, Mexico where she would grow up. At the age of 18, Victoria met and fell in love with Antonio Madrigal Duarte. On February 1st, 1948, Antonio and Victoria married in Numaran Michoacan, Mexico. After having all of her children, she decided to move her family back to Amarillo so she could raise them and watch them grow up in her hometown.

Victoria not only raised her children, but most of her grandchildren in the house she made into a home on South Garfield. Victoria was a loving mother and grandmother. Of all things she cherished, her huge family was her was her greatest treasure. She loved having get togethers in her home every weekend. Victoria loved that there was always an abundance of food to feed everyone when they were together. .

Victoria was an avid Gardner who always had a beautiful green yard and gorgeous flowers growing and blooming. She would sit on her porch on any warm day and just admire her yard and garden. She was a very strong willed woman until the very end. She will be missed dearly by us all. She already is.

Victoria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years Antonio, granddaughter Norma Irene Duarte, and son in law Jose Flores. Those left to cherish her memories are her two daughters Eva Duarte Vargas and husband Luis of Amarillo and Amparo Flores Duarte of La Piedad Michoacan, Mexico; her seven sons Jesus Duarte Arevalo of La Piedad Michoacan, Mexico, Antonio Duarte Arevalo and wife Rosalba of Amarillo, Leocadio Duarte Arevalo and wife Olga of Amarillo, Raymundo Duarte Arevalo and wife Isabel of Amarillo, Gustavo Duarte Arevalo and wife Maria of Las Vegas, Nevada, Manuel Duarte Arevalo of Amarillo, and Saul Duarte Arevalo and wife Gloria of Amarillo. Victoria also leaves behind her 46 grandchildren, and 93 great grandchildren as well as her very special friend Isela Espinoza who helped Victoria and loved her just as her own family, and many other loving family and dear friends.
