William "Bill" Delbert Holt

October 2, 1937 — November 8, 2017

William Delbert Holt

Born October 2, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas.  Went to be with his Lord: November 8, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas

When a father dies, his children hope to carry on a legacy: to continue to act in accordance, based on the good that they were taught by their parent.  Bill Holt gave his family a lot of material to work with.
Working with his hands, and being a carpenter for a bit, he followed the path of his Savior and chose to be a minister of his faith. He served many congregations in the churches of Christ, across the Texas High plains, and Oklahoma.

Later in life, following his conviction that Christ's message was love-- compassion in action-- he chose to take his skills and become a child protection officer of the State of Texas.  He continued to serve there until retirement.

After retirement, his ministry did not stop.   He continued to work with those who needed a guiding hand, this time serving residents of the Canyon Healthcare Center.  After this position he worked with children again at Amarillo ISD.  Loving on them and being loved. Often getting artwork from the children saying he was their favorite teacher.

Bill Holt believed that his mission in life was to make the world a little bit better by being the hands and feet of Jesus. His family, his friends, and his community are firmly convinced that he did just that.

William Delbert Holt is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jo Lynn Holt, of Amarillo; his children, Brendon (Jeanne) Holt of Tucson, Arizona; Keven Holt of Cincinnati, Ohio; Brian (Amy) Holt of Denton, Texas; Tara (Gabriel) Branch of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-daughters Dolly Powers and Holly Martin; grandchildren Brason and Braelyn Holt, Emarie Holt, Starla Branch, Julie Holt, Cory Martin and Colby Martin and great granddaughter Madilynn Martin.  He was preceded in death by grandson William Holt, parents Fred and Wilma Holt, nee Edmonds and sisters Freddie and Ruby.

A memorial service will be held at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo on Saturday, December 30 at 11am, with fellowship meal following.
