Dick Pierce

April 13, 1938 — March 9, 2018

Dick Pierce, 79, of White Deer Texas, went to be with our Father Lord on Friday, March 9, 2018.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday March 16th, 2018 at the Church of Christ, 501 S. Doucette, White Deer, Texas, with Pastor Alan Wilson officiating. Lunch will be served immediately following.

Special thanks to the citizens and volunteers of White Deer in your vigilance of the safety and well being of all the citizens of our town.

Dick was born on April 13, 1938 in Muleshoe to Gladys Beatrice and Samuel Haskell Pierce. He had many adventures throughout his life, including serving in the Korean War from 1952-1954. He also served as Mayor of White Deer from 2006 to 2008. He found and married his final love, Shirley Pierce of White Deer on June 19, 2005.

While he had some ups and downs throughout his years, he turned his life over to the Lord and asked for forgiveness. Dick was a big man with a big heart and spent most of his life making family out of friends. He often gave his all to those in need and never asked for anything in return. This memory lives on in each person whose life he touched, far too many to be named.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Samuel Pierce; and all of his brothers, Bill Pierce, Sam Pierce, Tony Pierce, Gerry Pierce, Mickey Pierce and Neal Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pierce of the home; his sons, Larry Pierce and wife of Houston, James Shackelford and wife of Houston and Bryan Pierce of Wisconsin; sisters Pat Hughes of Lubbock, Betty Blair of Oklahoma and Cherry Estep of Wichita Falls; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends whom he considered family.

The family respectfully ask for memorial donations be made to White Deer Senior Citizens, 315 S. Main St, White Deer, Texas 79097 in lieu of flowers.
