Frank Gilbert

November 26, 1949 — August 7, 2019

Wednesday August 7, 2019 Frank Edward “Ed” Gilbert passed away at BSA Hospice of the Southwest Bivens Pointe in Amarillo Texas.  To many of his friends he was known as Frank Gilbert and others “Ed” Gilbert.  Frank “Ed” was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on November 26, 1949 and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1968.

As a child “Ed” was always one that looked for opportunities for employment.  At 5 years old he distributed papers for the local newspaper.  His passion and entrepreneurial spirit had him venture out of self-owned businesses throughout his lifetime.  After high school he began his career in the oil fields of Wyoming. He furthered his career with Holly Sugar in Torrington, Wyoming and continued with the company to Imperial, California and Hereford, Texas.  He eventually turned to a different career and company that landed him in Amarillo.

Frank “Ed” had many friends from all walks of life.  He had an innate way of leaving a lasting first impression once you’d met him.  He was a man that enjoyed making people laugh with jokes and pause with awe when he played his Native American Flute.  He is remembered by many for his honesty, loyalty, love for children of all ages, humor, and steadfast belief there is good in everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Junior & Orpha Blodget and wife Janice Gilbert.  He is survived in death by his wife Vicki Sharp-Gilbert of Amarillo, Texas; brother and his spouse Robert “Bob” & Gloria Gilbert of Wheatland Wyoming; three sons their spouses and children, a daughter and step daughter.  Chris & Lisa Gilbert of Monument, Colorado grandchildren Josh & Robin Gilbert, Daniel, Moriah, and Keliah.  Wendi Dutcher of Lusk, Wyoming and grandchildren Tom & Morgan Nolan of Gillette, Wyoming, great-grand children Emmett, Sawyer and Hudson, and Chance Dutcher of Douglas, Wyoming.  Shannon & Rachael Gilbert of Las Vegas Nevada.  Brian & Leslie Gilbert of Peoria, Illinois, grandchildren Isabella, Colton and Tynan.  Lee & Kelly Ratliff of Fritch, Texas and grandchildren Audrey, Avery, Kendra, and Brenly.
